A Little Story About Pony Tail...

I’m more than your average horse loving girl.

Girl Jumping Horse

I didn’t have the typical upbringing of an equestrian. Most of the time, people get involved with this incredible sport and lifestyle because someone close to them already is.

Well, not me.

My parents grew up living all over the country working desk jobs. They’d not really encountered horses, didn’t know much of anything about the English side of horseback riding and only knew what you would learn from western movies.

So when they had a little girl who was undyingly empathetic towards all animals and was begging them for horseback riding lessons- they had no idea what had hit them.

Their son, my brother, Avery, did normal stuff. He played soccer. He liked video games and skateboarding. And while I was a super girly girl who loved pink, polka dots and all things fashion and prep, I also loved horseback riding, show jumping and working at the stables.

One of the first ways I was able to ride was by working at the stables and instead of getting paid money like the other hired hands, I would get paid in weekly lessons.

That’s where I found my first horse Sahara. The beautiful and ungodly tall, blindingly white Arabian mare. She had one heck of a personality. She was vivacious and spirited and I loved her with all of my heart. I rode her for a few years until the barn owners announced that they were bankrupt and everyone had to find new barns. At that point, my parents made it clear to me that they would not be buying me Sahara and that I had to say good-bye. I truly was devastated.

But I didn’t let everything Sahara had taught me go to waste. I found another barn and continued my training, forever holding Sahara’s spirit and love for life within my heart and memories.

As I got older, I found myself pairing gingham button downs with chic scalloped shorts and the cutest jewelry and dangly earrings. I just loved feeling well dressed, classy and prepared for anything. So over the years I have perfected my style, enjoying every step along the way. All the while I was also discovering classic, equestrian traditions and styles.

To this day only three things have remained utterly constant in my life: my love for animals, my love for equestrian and my love for fashion.

As such, I want to share these passions with the world.

Happy Riding & Happy Styling!
